Bug Description

Binary package hint: pcmciautils

As I can see the old pcmcia programs package was removed and pcmciautils were added. Problem is that pccardctl shows that card is inserted for 16bit (oldschool pcmcia) cards, but no entry appears in iwconfig/ifconfig for a wireless card. Newer 32bit (cardbus) cards work fine. This is very important for previous generation laptop users. For example good old Lucent's Orinoco cards are 16bit and many people I know, use these cards on their older laptops (IBM T20 series for example) with Ubuntu. Thank you!

Can you include the output of the dmesg command after plugging in your card?

pcmciautils seems to be working fine here - the errors suggest a kernel issue.
