Bug Description

Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

Upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic last autumn, where web browser 2.26.1 was able to resolve file:// URLs. Now it is
web browser 2.28.0 and file:// is not working any more.

Was there a change in URL handling (extension, policy) without documentation I am able to find? Or is it simply a bug in the browser (which I don't believe since there are no complaints).

Help welcome,
Klaus

Reproduce with:

file:/// => Unable to load page: Problem occurred while loading the URL file:///

file:// => suggests file:///home/kr
which is my home directory
         => Unable to load page: Problem occurred while loading the URL file:///home/kr

that works fine here, could you try the same with a new user created there? Thanks.

Hi Pedro,

* Created a New User
* Tried epiphany file:// URL again
and found out:
  file:///some-real-file.html does work
however
  file:///some-directory does not

Try:
  file:///usr/share/doc

Other hints to debug?
I've already installed a fresh copy of karmic in a chroot (original was an
upgrade), but same story.

Thanks,
Klaus
