The problem was cleared by installing dkms with synaptic package manager. So bug can be closed from my side.

Dear All,
whereas this was the source of problem /usr/lib/dkms/dkms_autoinstaller: No such file or directory
after installing dkms checked that file is generated and available at /usr/lib/dkms/dkms_autoinstaller
thereby i feel things are working fine.

the issue was closed by installing dkms manually... seems to be installation
line is missing in the program for us.
