quanta eats 100% CPU at startup in kubuntu

kdewebdev (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdewebdev

-- Steps ---
Start Quanta
Open a large quanta PHP project
Close Quanta
Start quanta (auto-opens the last big project)
Open a few (2, 3) PHP files
CPU goes 100% and quanta is unusable
Just wait 1-3 minutes and suddenly CPU returns normal (almost IDLE) and quanta works again

This is reproduceable, i.e. if you restart quanta or open another project it happens again.

-- Tested on --
Kubuntu with both
* KDE 3.5.2 kubuntu out-of-the-box
* KDE 3.5.3 update from
deb http://ftp.unina.it/pub/Linux/kde/stable/3.5.3/kubuntu dapper main

--- Comments --
This is a strange bug, I've already seen this behaviour in quanta several times over the last years (it seems a regression, but who knows).

I use quanta plus every day since 2003 but this is my first time in kubuntu, quanta works normally on my other linux box where it was compiled from sources with konstruct.

I was looking at the bug and when I open up Quantas on either my Edgy box or my Debian VM I don't have the problems, but I'm wondering if the issue is that I don't have "large" php project to open.
Also just curious if you are still having this problem based on the date of the last entry.

Have a great day,

Jonathan

Yes, I still have this problem, it happens on large projects/files.

Despite this, I use quanta almost every day, it's my IDE of choice.

Ciao

I can confirm this issue, not only using PHP but using a very large DocBook file.

Good evening,

I am wondering what the status of this bug is. Richard could you please check and see if you are still having this problem w/ DocBook?

Thanks,

Jonathan

I haven't experienced this bug on Feisty and Gutsy, even with large DocBook files.

Hi, I'm using feisty now and the problem has disappeared.

Still having slowness while switching tabs from-to large javascript
files though.

But this would be another bug ;)

Marking this bug as fix released due to two people confirming this is no longer a problem.

Thanks for the bug report and for helping out with making Ubuntu better.
