Bug Description
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 as the only installed OS - it was installed last week, and this is my first exposure to Linux.
Hardware: MB is Asus A7N8x-X-UAYZ, with onboard AC 97 Audio Controller. CPU is AMD Athelon XP 2000+ , 2GB RAM, 230 GB HDD. I have two installed DVD/RW's and a wireless internet connection. I've also installed MPlayer and a lot of related (??) files using the Synaptic Pakage Mgr.
When I insert an audio CD and choose Rhythmbox to play it, I expect the application to play the CD smoothly, without any extraneous sounds. When playing an Audio CD installed in my #2DVD drive, the music "skips" or misses a few beats, and there is an intermitant "put-put" sound".
I've experienced a number of other problems with Rhythmbox - it will not launch when I place the audio cd in #1DVD drive - it causes the desktop to go black, however, some applications , such as Games, can be launched in this condition, whereas, other views such as Places>Computer will not launch.

thanks for the report, could you run rhythmbox as: rhythmbox --debug &> rhythmbox-debug.txt ; reproduce the issue and attach that resulting file to the report? do you get the same with totem?
