Bug Description
Ubuntu 9.04 last update available on Acer Aspire 5810T, Solo 1.4GHz, Intel graphics, bios version 2.32 (flashed precisely to get Fn-bright keys to work).
After pressing Fn-bright (up or down), the Brightness actions get done, OS carries on but "stalling". Stalling means a cycle where it's 5secs idle and unresponsive (nothing gets done, keystrokes produce nothing), 1 sec working.
Hard disks are idle, and monitoring process usage is all 0%.
If I logout, it returns to log in screen, if I re-log in, everything is OK. So, I'm guessing the X session went bad... after restart, were ok again.

bios version is actually 2.31.
Brightness applet does nothing.
If I press Fn-bright up or down at log in screen, the stalling begins, and we're back to normal after log-in succeeds.
Also, were can I set the default (log in) brightness? Gconf-editor settings are being ignored completely.
