Bug Description

I change my theme from Human to New Wave. I go to proxy settings and see that buttons can have up to three different heights. This is not consistent, as others themes.

Inconsistency in buttons happens also in others softwares, for example in Ubuntu Software Center, when I click on a package or section "Get Free Software" changes height

I know about this but it's there because if we want to have glow around default buttons we should use it. I think it is a problem if the pixmap engine I use because Aurora has glow but still it's buttons are aligned ok. If I find a way to fix that I would do it ASAP.

Could you just upload a pic of the problem so that I know we are talking about the same thing.

In the upcoming version of the theme (0.9.0) it will be fixed. Expect
it in a month or two.

This bug affects me too with Lucid.
The most annoying part being the different sizes of the buttons when unlocking a locked screen.

Can you test the latest beta available at the overview > downloads section of this webpage and see if if still affects you?

I am not sure, whether I am doing it correctly, I just extracted the .tar.gz into ~/.themes.
The file I downloaded is named newwave-090-beta-1.tar.gz
The theme gtkrc file inside reads: Version: 0.9.0 Beta 1 [23/04/2010]

After doing that I reselected the theme from the Appearance manager.

The lock screen buttons now have similar sizes, so nice one on that.

However I noticed something awkward, that may or may not be connected to my installation procedure: when the screen is locked the background is not complete black any more, but rather contains a poor quality black-and-grey pattern, resembling low jpeg quality compression. The same pattern is found as the background on some widgets like the Thunderbird and Firefox tab-bar and status-bar, and the Appearance Manager's background too.
Or is that an intended part of the theme?

It is intended part of the theme that serves as a different texture. I will try to fix it for widgets that do no require such a pattern (e.g screensaver). I will also include several patterns and a way to change them via the New Wave Configurator.

Now that you said that this looks like low quality jpeg I think that I have to include some premium bg pattern. Do you have an idea what that might be?

I see. In that case it's OK :)
As long as it's intended, and not just an accidental mistake.
By 'poor quality' I meant the artefacts that tend to happen when a M/JPEG is compressed with high compression ratio, and lower quality settings.

The current image also does not tile so well, very well seen on the black background of the lock-screen.

It would be nice to allow plain-colour or gradient to choose from, since not everyone likes tiled pixmaps.
