Bug Description
Binary package hint: gecko-mediaplayer
this is the video file stream. Around 9 minutes in, it will stutter, stop, start and is basically unwatchable.
I saved a copy out of /.cache/
mplayer and vlc play thru without any trouble.
gnome-mplayer has the same trouble as when playing in the browser.

really,
right at 9 minutes 16 seconds it starts messing up and does so all the way to the end of the file
I went ahead an reinstalled mplayer and gecko and no change
I found the older mplayer and of coure ubuntu is telling me a newer version is already installed
Do you want me to uninstall svn20090620 and try svn20090426?

I sent a screen shot showing the page and package installer response

I went ahead and removed svn20090620 and installed svn20090426.
I still get the halting and stuttering beginning right at 9 minutes 16 seconds.

I terminated the stream because it was again unwatchable at that point.
the same point where the video stream messes up, we get a lot of verbosity out of the player

i terminated the stream play since all it kept doing was spitting out the same error. The video was stopping, starting, jerky etc...
I saved the file to my drive and I can take the same file, play it in VLC or mplayer and it plays straight thru with no errors.
if i open it in gnome mplayer it starts halting at the same spot. And this file is sitting on my hard drive.

Looks like an mplayer problem, I' m asking upstream to have a look at this.
Cesare Tirabassi (norsetto) wrote : | #13 |
Actually, both gnome-mplayer and mplayer play it fine from local copy, so, it is likely to be a caching problem.

Works fine for me.
In your dependancies I find:
mplayer 2:1.0~rc3+ svn20090620~ karmic~ ppa4
mplayer-nogui 3:1.0~svn-r29882-1
Which one did you install? Can you try the one in the karmic repo (2:1.0~ rc3+svn20090426 -1ubuntu10) ?
