Bug Description

First, Plug-in Sony PS3 gamepad, dmesg detects usb device:

[ 9645.832638] usb 6-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 11
[ 9646.072843] usb 6-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 9646.189837] input: Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.0/usb6/6-2/6-2:1.0/input/input23
[ 9646.190136] sony 0003:054C:0268.000D: input,hiddev96,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Joystick [Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-2/input0

But, after that, it doesn't respond any event like press buttons or move axis

It is not related to bluetooth mode. I doesn't use this mode, but perhaps this doesn't work too

I'm using Karmic Koala. In previous releases as 9.04 it worked well.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage , so I have classified this bug as a bug in linux package.

Hi Salvador,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 490332

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I seem to be affected by this bug. Can't get my sixaxis controller to do anything over USB.

The device is recognized and created as /dev/input/js0

jstest --event should print events as I push buttons, but I get nothing.

I'm attaching output from:

jstest --event /dev/input/js0

Also, dmesg:

[35534.672040] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
[35535.074545] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[35535.187447] input: Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.2/usb4/4-1/4-1:1.0/input/input21
[35535.187648] sony 0003:054C:0268.000C: input,hiddev96,hidraw0: USB HID v1.11 Joystick [Sony PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-1/input0

Anyway, it doesn't seem to work.
