I also saw this problem several times in the testing releases. However, things got a lot better since the imrpvoements to modem-manager.

Can you please try to reproduce this in karmic stable and report back whether it is still present?

Well, as I stated, the problem is still there in the Netbook Remix of 9.10 -

Problem solved.
The device, when connecting to a tework, automatically sets up the APN as "internet". When this is adjusted to the correct one, in my case "internet.mtn@, everything works smoothly (also in 9.04). So the problem is not linux :-)

I have the same problem (disconnect instantly when i connect).
I didn't have it in 9.04, it appeared in 9.10 and is still in 10.04
In 9.10 I also have problem with connecting to WPA2 Enterprise (PEAP) that is fixed in 10.04

But the big problem is mobile broadband via HUAWEI E170.
In 9.10 i have tried to downgrade network-manager and network-manager-gnome to the one from 9.04, after that it kind of works. I can connect mobile broadband and connect to WPA2 Ent. But i can't edit connections.
