OpenShot breaks xvid playback (uses libavcodec-extra-52 instead of libavcodec52)

Bug Description

Installing OpenShot on Karmic from the PPA causes libavcodec52 to be removed (required to play back Xvid in Totem) and replaces it with libavcodec-extra-52.

This means I have to remove OpenShot if I want to watch an Xvid media file. It would be great if they could exist side by side, or if libavcodec-extra-52 allowed Xvid to be played in Totem.

What PPA did you use to install OpenShot? Was it this one:
http://www.openshotvideo.com/2009/11/openshot-ppa-new-experimental-ppa.html?

Thanks,

No, I'm using
http://ppa.launchpad.net/openshot.developers/ppa/ubuntu

That's probably my issue, right?

That is most likely the problem. We have disabled that old PPA now. You should uninstall Openshot and remove that PPA from your software sources, and then add the new PPA and install again.

Just make sure MLT is uninstalled before adding the new PPA.

today I installed openshot from PPA and it also broke my VLC playback in Ubuntu.
I used this PPA: ppa:jonoomph/openshot-edge using the the add-apt-repository command
I'm a bit confused now, cause I am not sure which ppa is the right one.
