Bug Description

Hi to all.

Yesterday I've been trying to cut the initial part of an .avi video and rendered it into two formats.
When rendered to a .flv OpenShot produced an empty file.
When rendered to "youtube format" it produced a .mp4 file but I'm unable to read it with VLC, Mplayer and OpenShot too..

I have the latest OpenShot 0.9.54 and related dependecies installed as shown here:
http://www.openshotvideo.com/2008/04/download.html

Any suggestion, please?
Thanks.

Ubuntu 9.10 - kernel 2.6.31-15-generic

UPDATE: uploading the video, I get an error message from YouTube telling it is not able to convert the video. This means (I suppose) it's not a "playing problem" but a problem during rendering which makes video unable to be opened in general (and not only from my computer).

Very strange. It sounds like a problem with FFmpeg and possibly the x264
package. I'm not sure the best way to debug this. It can be very time
consuming and tricky. Have you tried installing from the Experimental PPA (
http://www.openshotvideo.com/2009/11/openshot-ppa-new-experimental-ppa.html)?
If not, please uninstall the current version of OpenShot and it's
dependencies, and then install from the PPA. Good luck!

Jonathan, thanks for your reply.

Are you sure you're asking me to uninstall all of those dependencies as shown into the following screenshot?

Are you sure uninstalling phyton won't unistall almost half a part of the packages installed into my system?

How did you install OpenShot? Did you use the .DEB files? The PPA is a much easier way to install everything. To clarify my last message, only un-install the packages you installed via the DEB files. So, it should only be 5 or 6 packages. Not Python, and pygoocanvas, etc... Hope this helps. =)
