I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. In order to help better determine what the problem might be, can you answer the following questions:

1) Are you using NetworkManager?
2) Are you behind a proxy server?
3) Can you report back what the following steps report?
    Quit the Ubuntu One client
    Applications->Accessories->Terminal, then run:
    ubuntuone-client-applet

Thank you,

Joshua

JM,

Since you are not using NetworkManager, you'll need to try our beta PPA repository where we have a fix for most users not using NetworkManager to connect. If you follow the steps in the following FAQ you should be able to try out this new fix: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+faq/836

If this does not fix the problem, please report back here and let me know what you are using to connect to the network/Internet.

Thank you,

Joshua
