error when using authenticated rss

I tried to enter in a RSS feed from JIRA, which requires authentication, and I get an error message immediately saying that the RSS feed is invalid.

JIRA is a ticket management system. The important part is just that it is
an RSS feed that lies behind basic authentication.

What is the url like? Can you subscribe with any other feed readers?

This bug applies to the Trac ticket management system as well.. Probably the same cause, as I have configured Trac to use authentication.

By the way: It works with Firefox, but not in Evolution with evolution-rss (current Ubuntu 9.10 version)..
