I am running a 32 bit operating system... so it shouldn't matter.

It did work the first time I started it but then hasn't worked since.

Running STELLARIUM as administrator now allows the program to start,
however, it crashes (becomes totally unresponsive) after using it for what
appears to be random periods of time. I have tried disabling some of the
WINDOWS 7 features under the compatibility settings, but with little to no
success.

I have also got the same problem after downloading the stars update and now I get the error "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information". Stellarium will not open. It worked perfectly before I downloaded the updated stars. Uninstalling and reinstalling the programme does not fix the problem. When it works the programme is fabulous!

I am running Windows 7 on an HP DV7-3180us. I am running in 1600 by 900, Ture Color (32 bit), 60 Hertz.

Task manager shows it running in 32bit but am running 64 bit OS.

It ran fine initially, then downloaded all catalogs, then crashed as mentioned. Tried setting properties to Run as Administrator and in XP Compatibility mode. It starts running then stops responding.

May not be related but I did noticed that Windows gives a message indicating

"The color scheme has changed

"The following program has performed an action that requires Windows to temporarily change the color shceme to Windows 7 basic.

"Program: stellarium.exe
"Publisher: <Unavailable>
"Process identifier (PID): 4920" (I assume this is whatever it happened to be at the time)
"Windows will automatically change the color scheme back to Windows Aero when this program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running."

I had set the "Run as Admin" in the Compatibility properties which did not seem to catch the first time, but running it manually (right click "Run as Administrator) does not seem to work.

Dear all,
Could you please try the release candidate for 0.10.4?
http://chereau.free.fr/stellarium_files/stellarium-0.10.4-win32-RC1.exe

Before installing, please uninstall previous versions and suppress
your previous config.ini.
The RC1 uses gl shaders by default for stars and atmosphere rendering.
It also uses the Qt OpenGL2 paint engine

The feedback I expect is:
 - Do you see proper sky labels (no blinking)?
 - Do you still experience random crashes?

Please also try with use_glshaders = false in the [main] section of
the config.ini file.

Thanks!
Fabien

Fabian,

I followed your instructions and am still having the same issue within my Parallels VM's. I am running these on both a Mac Pro (desktop) and Macbook Pro (notebook). I upgraded Stellarium in all of the VM's (6 total, 2 - XP 32 bit 2 - Vista 64 and 2 - Windows 7).

I also have the notebook booting Windows 7, and Stellarium runs fine from there.

Hi, Fabien, I have download 10.04 and ran it for around 20 mins, all seems ok. No compatablity or admin changes needed to run this version.

10.02 was run on Windows 7 pro 64bit in compatibility and under administration control.

You may need someone that has not been able to run the software at all to further verify if 10.04 is ok.

Best regards MikeA and thanks for this superb software.
