Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

I have a Lenovo X60 with an external docking station, and an external monitor attached.

When I dock the laptop, and press Fn+f7 to activate the external monitor, the following happens:

1. My gnome theme is changed from DarkRoom to (I guess?) the standard theme.
2. The monitor is activated with the laptop screen set up to the left of the external monitor.
3. Using gnome-display-properties or xrandr to change the layout, does nothing and gives no error message.
4. After logging out and in again, my gnome theme comes back to DarkRoom and gnome-display-properties works OK.

1. and 3. are the problem.

ubuntu-bug 481819 gives "The specified process ID does not belong to a
program". Also, I have to use apport-cli because I am behind a
firewall, and I can't figure out the right commandline - can you help?

I'm behind a proxy, so apport-collect times out... I have set my
network proxy system-wide in the gnome settings dialog, but this does
not help.

For me (Lucid beta 1 with Thinkpad x41 [intel gma]) attaching external display and pressing Fn+F7 will cause desktop theme to change to Metacity. I can reset it back, but folders etc. stays in Metacity theme until I reboot the computer.

OK, no longer behind a proxy so I ran apport-collect - maybe you could
reopen?
