comport dos not work properly

before the update i used a serial port to make contact with a PLC, after the update I could make contact but i could not program the PLC any more

Thanks for the reply, I almost forgot about it.
PLC stands for Programmable Logic Controller. It's used to control processes in Industrial installations.
The best know brand is Siemens, I've got some from moeller at home, which I'd like to use for some home automation.
The software used to program the PLC is made for windows 98/2k and communicates by serial cable.
