Bug Description

When the system starts up from a suspend my laptop display brightness is always reduced to about 50%. I then have to use the brightness applet to restore the displays brightness to full.

I would expect for the brightness setting to be restored to what it was prior to the suspend.

I am running:
Ubuntu: Release 9.10
Kernel: 2.6.31-14-generic
Processor: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56

Video card: Nvidia
Nvidia Driver: version 185.18.36
Using X Screens

I can confirm the same with 10.04.

All these seem (to me) duplicates of the same bug:
409664
275902
480412
504998

409004 has status "confirmed"

As a workaround, unplugging and replugging the power adapter works for me to restore the correct full brightness.

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Karmic's or Lucid's packages?
Thanks in advance

I have Lucid and I keep it always up to date with the automatic update manager (is that what you mean?) and I still experience the issue.

However it doesn't happen always, just sometimes.

I have not encountered this issue since upgrading to Lucid.

manager (is that what you mean?) and I still experience the issue.

However it doesn't happen always, just sometimes.

Done. Do you need anything from me or should that do it?

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

I'm seeing this comment on many bugs. It looks like the only thing that matters is whether they are fixed with the latest release, but wasn't 10.04 supposed to be a long term support release? Bug fixes are supposed to be released for 10.04 also, aren't they?
