Bug Description

Binary package hint: gsynaptics

Release: Ubuntu Karmic 9.10
Package: gsynaptics
Version: 0.9.16-2

This bug report is somewhat similar to bug #323053 but not identical. I can set horizontal scrolling through synclient:

   synclient HorizEdgeScroll=1

but setting it in gsynaptics doesn't have any effect. I can even uncheck it, quit gsynaptic, check it again and nothing changes - horizontal scrolling will not be enabled.

This issue is most likely duplicate of bug #320632. Or definitely it is bug in the driver as synclient reports different things that xinput.

Hi Tomas

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. If you could test the current Ubuntu stable release(maverick ubuntu 10.10), this would help us a lot. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue

Hello Gursimran,

sorry, but after a few years of Ubuntu I switched back to Debian, in the hope
my efforts to report bugs and cooperate with maintainers will bear more fruits there.

Thanks,
