I see this bug, too. Any advice how to resolve it?

Well I maintain my own internal repo, so I just unpacked the kopete-
crypto package, changed the dependency and re-packaged it back up.

I don't know if this is an available option for you.

Yes, this is an option. The strict dependencies also breaks kopete-
crypto when upgrading 9.10 to kde4.3.4 from ppa. Maybe the dependencies should be changed.
