Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-radeon

Some OpenGL applications do segfault on startup:
-Blender

Some applications display white textures:
- Neverball
- Neverputt

Some OpenGL applications print warning messages:
- lxgears
*********************************WARN_ONCE*********************************
File radeon_tcl.c function radeon_run_tcl_render line 499
Rendering was 79 commands larger than predicted size. We might overflow command buffer.
***************************************************************************

Screensavers with OpenGL do not display at all and print strange errors:
gears: malloc.c:3074: sYSMALLOc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr) (((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd)))) && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size) >= (unsigned long)((((__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd_nextsize))+((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1))) && ((old_top)->size & 0x1) && ((unsigned long)old_end & pagemask) == 0)' failed.
Aborted

This errors are new with 9.10 (Karmic Koala), and were not present in the last release 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope).

My graphic card is a Radeon Mobility 7500 and I use the radeon driver. The version of the driver is 1:6.12.99+git20090929.7968e1fb-0ubuntu1.

 This option does not provide much of a noticable speed boost, while it

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
