Bug Description
Binary package hint: mplayer
MPlayer doesn't provide its version properly, reporting "UNKNOWN-4.4.1" instead of "1.0~rc3". This causes problems with frontends like SMPlayer, that uses this banner to detect the correct version of the mplayer binary.
Description: Ubuntu 9.10
Release: 9.10
mplayer:
Installed: 2:1.0~rc3+
Candidate: 2:1.0~rc3+
Version table:
*** 2:1.0~rc3+
500 http://
100 /var/lib/
What I expect:
~% mplayer -v | head -3
MPlayer 1.0~rc3 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team
CPU vendor name: GenuineIntel max cpuid level: 6
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (Family: 15, Model: 6, Stepping: 2)
What I get:
~% mplayer -v | head -3
MPlayer UNKNOWN-4.4.1 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team
CPU vendor name: GenuineIntel max cpuid level: 6
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (Family: 15, Model: 6, Stepping: 2)
Same for me on karmic, smplayer at the first run does not recognise the mplayer version and prompts the user for it.
Moreover 4.4.1 is a non-sense version for mplayer...
