Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-utils

1. Open Dapper RC System Log Viewer app
2. Display any log
3. Enter any filter text
4. Select one or more remaining log entries
5. Select Edit/Copy
6. Paste text into any editor

The text pasted IS NOT the text that was selected / copied.

This fault occurs only when a filter is active. Clear the filter and copy function works.

Hi,

I have just upgrade to Fiesty and this bug is still happening. It seems to me that it would be helpful to fix this as it directly affects fixing bugs on other programs.
Let me know if there is any more information that I can provide or help I can give ( short of programming :) )

Thanks,

james

the bug is an upstream one, we get hundred of those every week and the team is pretty small, we don't have the ressources to work on everything is this one is a small issue

Confirmed on 8.10 alpha6 64-bit.

If the filter displays say 5 entries, the first 5 entries of the unfiltered log are copied.

Attached a patch that fixes two things:

1.) If the filter is used, the selection paths refer to the child tree model (three lines that fix this bug...), and
2.) Replaced the range selection thingy with an index list since multiple selection != range selection.

There are still minor issues when selecting date lines (will select the first log line of that day) but that was beyond the scope of my friday evening fun. ;)

ATTENTION: I'm a total C newbie and a GTK newbie as well, so I'd be glad if someone more experienced could review my changes.
