Translation templates not complete

Translation templates are now ready in Rosetta, but there are few missing strings:

- section names (namely: "Multimedia", "Web", "Archive" and "System")
- "About" box (these strings are probably located in qtabout.ui file)

Templates are ready for Dapper, but I think Breezy version should be added too.

The minor bug is that templates include package names. They are not translatable and so they're useless here.

After a quick look at the stuff in rosetta it looks like your correct.
Because of the problem raised (partial translations) i have bumped the severity.

Hi, sorry its taken so long to get back to you.
The cause for the bulk of the needed strings being missing is that we dont have our easyubuntu.glade file available for translation (i'm not sure how the kde frontend will have to be changed).
I'm trying to work out the intl-* tools.

I've found that if you run:

intltool-extract --type=gettext/glade easyubuntu.glade

then it produces easyubuntu.glade.h file with all strings tagged as translatable="yes" (so all interesting files should be tagged with this pattern). But i don't know what to do with it, though. =}

Further investigation showed that you just need to do:

xgettext --language=Glade easyubuntu.glade

to get messages.po file (again, only from strings with translatable="yes").

So we have a solution for Glade part. I'll try to look how to do i18n of .ui files.

OK, it looks like the Qt code should be be internationalized this way:

As I see it, it's done mostly with "tr()" (or maybe "trUtf8()" ?). Then you need Qt Linguist, which makes .tr files from source by "lupdate". When .tr files (they're in XML format) are translated, you just "lrelease" 'em to get .qm files.

The ".tr" files are comparable to ".po", and the ".qm" files are comparable to ".mo".

Let me know if should discover something more. ;-}

Hi,

sorry for such a delay - I've just checked this page and found that thera is something new I haven't been informed by e-mail or missed the info. ={

However I don't understand: what bug should I file and why in Ubuntu? I thought EU is separate product and doesn't belong to Ubuntu? I also don't understand what's the mess with "MOTU+ubunt8-bugs" - what is this and how it's related to this bug?

You may simply skip it if it's not valid anymore, but I'm just curious and still like EU to be in the best possible form.
