Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem-gstreamer

It seems that Totem ignores vobsub subtitles in mkv files. Xine doesn't.

Thanks for your bug. Subscribing Tim who is upstream for totem,gstreamer. Tim do you know if that's supposed to work? Is that a gstreamer issue? The same as http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342448? Or should that be forwarded as a new feature request?

It's completely separate from #342448.

It's not supposed to work yet AFAIK - for the same reason we don't do DVD subtitles yet (the dvdsubdec element doesn't work right yet).

Note that it was only really fixed in theory, in practice it still doesn't work yet (ie. matroskademux can now read the vobsub streams, but playbin, which is what totem uses, can still not actually show them - see gnome bugs #350311).
