Bug Description

I am using Ubuntu 9.04.
When i booted it up the first time (live cd or installed) it had a wrong resolution.
I have a Ati radeon Xpress 200 card with a Compaq V75 monitor.
The out of the box resolution for this system is set as 1024 X 768 (4:3) at 85 hz.
But the correct/perfect resolution for my system is 1024 X 768 (4:3) at 75 hz.

This also happened with Xubuntu 9.10 live cd (i think Ubuntu 9.10 would have the same)

And if i change the resolution my gdm is still the wrong one... :(
So i hope this will be fixed for the whole computer.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it without more information.

Please run the command

apport-collect 470220
if you are using Karmic Koala (9.10) or newer, or

apport-collect -p 470220
if you are using Jaunty Jackalope (9.04)

which will attach necessary information.

Thanks in advance

I am sorry. I forgot to assign the correct source package. Now it should give us a lot more information, if you would try it again, please.

Fortunately, that is an easy error to fix. in the terminal,

rm ~/.cache/apport/launchpad

hit ENTER. That should fix the error.

I am now running 10.04 the default frequency was 85hz. (like in the other releases)
But this time the resolution was perfect, although with the 85hz my screen was slightly flickering. (almost unnoticeable)
It is heading the right way i guess. :)
