after upgrading from jauty to karmic, i occasionally get the x-server message saying i should look up blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2009/08/17 and apply the patches.
I went to system -> preferences -> appearance and opened the tab visual effects. my current setting is None. i switched to Normal but in the confirmation window I selected to go back to my previous settings. after this, the crash occured
