Toshiba Portege R500 - 11z Model nr. PPR50E-04X048EN under Ubuntu 9.10 when in Power Managemenet -> On AC Power -> PUT DISPLAY TO SLEEP WHEN INACTIVE FOR X MINUTES, baclight goes in and even after reboot it is still on! And for me it took 3 days to get it working!
