Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

The 'cloud' applet permanently has an exclamation mark in it. If I right click and try to connect, after a couple of seconds the '!' is back again and there is still no connection.

It would appear that the Tomboy notes upload does work, but nothing else. I have managed to sync tomboy notes, even though there would appear to be no connection. I have also managed to upload a couple of files by uploading from the website, not the desktop. Had no success so far with contacts from Evolution.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear that Ubuntu One isn't working.

could you attach ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log to the
bug?

Also, please check Bug #455544 as you might be hitting that bug.

Thanks.

Guillermo,

Thanks for the reply but, fortunately (or unfortunately depending on how
you look at it), I have just received and installed the new kernel
update and the problem disappeared. Everything now appears to work with
regards unbuntu one - files and contacts are now syncing and the notes
still work. Is there any point in sending the requested file?

Incidentally, having looked at bug 455544, this would not appear to be the same bug. There are no warning messages or errors - it simply does not work and refuses to connect for more than a couple of seconds.

So, it seems that it was a transient error because of some issue on the server, or that you got a fix in the new update.

I'm marking this as fix released, but feel free to ask again if something similar happens.

I'll try it again and see. If the issue still happens I will submit a bug report again. It isnt super important.

This has worked properly since my last posting, however, for some reason the preferences keep resetting themselves on random occasions to limit bandwith to 0 kb/s both up and down. All I have to do is uncheck the box and it starts working again. There appears to be no pattern as to why this is happening. It certainly doesn't happen every time that I boot up.

Steve - Try the workaround in bug 455544 (remove or rename ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf) and see if that solves the problem.

I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One isn't working properly for you. Fortunately, I think there is a workaround for this problem as I believe it's related to bug 455544 which occurs when the bandwidth preferences are set too low (or to the defaults). If you delete ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf and restart the Ubuntu One client, you should be able to connect. Thank you, Joshua
