Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

From: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1305826

I've always had the problem but it's annoying me more and more - when I want to copy/cut a file I can't just hit Ctrl+C/X because half the time it won't actually copy/cut the file: nothing is added to the clipboard.

Thus I have to hit the command several times in a row just to make sure it's registered that I'm trying to copy something. I can't count the number of times I've had to come back to the file I was trying to copy having pasted thin air.

This problem is confirmed to appear on the following laptops:
ASUS X50SL-AP124C, QWERTY keyboard running Ubuntu 9.04
Dell Vostro 1510, AZERTY keyboard running Ubuntu 9.04
Dell Studio 1555 laptop, QWERTY keyboard running Ubuntu 9.10

Same here. I noticed that this bug shows whenever I hit Alt+1 or Alt+{any number} and then immediately the Ctrl+C.

I've noticed it's not just Ctrl+C/X. For example F2 (rename file) sometimes does not work either. This leads me to believe that it happens with pretty much any key.

I can confirm that (ctrl-c/x and F2). It happens from time to time. I can't really figure out why and when this happens.
It seems i trigger the bug more often, when i switch between directories or nautilus windows... but not sure, yet.

The bug is most likely to be reproduced by going to another folder and quickly pressing the Ctrl+C or F2, for example. Seems as if Nautilus needed more time to "settle" and "hear" our commands.

Same problem since Ubuntu 9.04. It still happens in Ubuntu Lucid.

I hope it is corrected soon.

Thanks.

Hello

I thank you for your fast answer... but I have to ask: where can I find the
fix? I am newbie in bug reporting.

Thanks
Marco
