Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Here's a link to the stream: http://friskyradio.com/frisky_aac.m3u

It is expected that this stream is played smoothly and without any gaps. Just like any MP3 stream for example.

But this stream sounds like a skipping CD from time to time. It is also can be seen that it is constantly buffering so the progress bar never fils. Actually, buffering progress bar looks like a volume meter rather than a buffering progress bar itself :-)

I attached a video capture of what happening when I try to playback this AAC+ stream

could be an gstreamer issue do you get the same with gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=http://205.188.215.229:8024 ? Yes, that's the url of the stream.

Thank you but I know the exact URL of the stream. I gave you a link to playlist just because the administrators of this radio change the direct URL of aac+ stream from time to time and you could just face the situation when my direct link no longer works because the admins moved the stream to another server. Playlist, in contrast, is always up-to-date.

Now answering your question. Yes, I have the same problems with skipping the audio of the stream while playing it in the terminal using script you provided.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GStreamer is available in both Lucid and Maverick and we are wondering if this is still reproducible in any of those versions, May you please test and give us of feedback about it? Thanks in advance.

This could be https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=620494 which is fixed in GStreamer Good Plug-ins 0.10.24 - see the release notes at http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/releases/gst-plugins-good/0.10.24.html

The stream at http://friskyradio.com/frisky_aac.m3u plays fine here under Ubuntu 10.10. And I have rather old hardware.
