Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

The radio buttons strings are too large to be displayed completely (but the second option), so that the user might guess what he chooses, but doesn't get it to know.

Confer http://wiki.kubuntu-de.org/images/07-installer-benutzer.png

In the screenshot you see the 'e' and port of a letter on the first string. In the last you see the sentence is not finished, too. It is Kubuntu Karmic's installer.

Roman,

Could you take a look at this, please? I suspect we can match the behavior of the GTK+ frontend and just make the text smaller, but I'll leave that decision to you.

Thanks!

Maybe consider using line-breakage and shorten the translated text to the length of the English text? German translators tend to narrate, extensively describe and tell tales when it comes to labeling buttons, lists etc. instead of orienting on the length of the English text and use precise but short text.

I know of users who didn't dare to install because they didn't know what the difference between the entries was.

Is it possible to get shorter translations? Also... does hovering over the text show the entire string? Would it be better if I made it do that?

Hi!
I'm assigning ubuntu-translations. I can confirm at least some of the truncated text on Kubuntu Precise Beta.
This issue should be looked at.

Is this still a problem? Has anybody located the affected strings yet?
