Bug Description

Just upgraded to 1.5 and immediately noticed we have a significantly reduced touchpad sensitivity. Sometimes the touchpad will nicely track my finger movements, sometimes the touch pad seems very sluggish and non-responsive, especially with slow finger movements.

I did play with the mouse settings and I could not tell any change in the touchpad. With EP 1.0, the cursor tracked quite nicely with any minor or slow finger movement, unfortunately that isn't the case now. The finger must be moved much faster and for a finger-width or two before the cursor moves.

I experienced the same issue on my EEE PC 701. It appears not to be an issue with sensitivity directly, because sometimes the cursor moves erratically as if it has trouble seeing your fingertip.

I can confirm the sensitivity problem on my EEE 900A with EP 1.5. It is not like the erratic movement issue described by Ted on his 701.

I can also confirm the sensitivity problem on my 900A as well. This is a new problem for me with EP 1.5. The cursor does fine when you move your finger quickly, it's at slow speeds that it gets very erratic, often not moving at all. This means that all the slow detailed movements that you need to hone in on something are very exasperating and unpredictable. I have experimented with every possible combination of mouse settings - speed, sensitivity; even fiddled with threshold and timeout - all to no avail.

Please first try to add to the file /etc/modprobe.d/options.conf:

options psmouse proto=imps

Then restart.

Thanks mb74, this fixed the problem for me. I did have to create the options.conf file as it did not exist.

Nice, we'll include that by default then
