Bug Description

I just downloaded http://downloads.sourceforge.net/inkscape/Inkscape-0.46-3.TIGER.UNIVERSAL.dmg. I copied the app to the Applications folder and when I double-clicked on the icon, an icon popped up and told me that it'd be a while since this was the first launch, then x-11 launched, then nothing happened. Did someone forget to write an installation script?

It would be helpful if you could attach any available crash reports and console messages related to Inkscape and X11:

Could you:
- quit X11 and Inkscape
- open Console.app (in Utilities), look for 'All messages' in it and display it (logs button in the toolbar)
- clear the log (brush button in the toolbar)
- Open Inkscape and look for messages in the Console.app window
- copy & paste the messages in here.

The program did not crash, therefore, there is no crash report. As I
said, X11 did nothing. There are no console messages. Somewhere did
reading get left out of your education?

Sorry for the tone of the last note. Inkscape did generate a crash
report. It's attached.

sorry, but I have more questions:
- Which X11 version do you have installed?
- Is there a crash log for X11 as well?
- G4: that's PPC or Intel?

… another related report is bug #168682 “Inkscape will not launch - libXinerama not found”:

both seem to indicate that it is a problem with your X11 installation, not a bug in Inkscape itself:

JiHO wrote on 2008-02-17:

Version 1.0 -- Why hasn't software update updated this?

Install X11 from your Tiger Installation discs (Optional Installs > X11), then use Software update to get the latest version (AFAIK 1.1.3) from Apple (Software update from the Apple menu and update X11).

Because before OS X 10.5 Leopard X11 was an optional install?
