Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

Scrolling down a list of software in the Software Center is slow and loads the CPU heavily. I have a rather slow Intel Atom CPU, but scrolling shouldn't require this much.

Using 9.10 Karmic and Ubuntu Software Center 1.0.1.

I'm seeing this in a fresh install of Lucid Beta2. Not an upgrade.
cpu goes up the roof in Firefox, on sites using adobe flashplayer plugin (i.e. Farmville) becoming extremely slow.
Scrolling problem also applies.

Lucid shows much heavier navigating than in Karmic (possibly because of all the added navigation features/animations). I'm on a moderately powerful machine yet it still is a little painful sometimes.

It does seem quite a bit faster. I'm on a virtual machine, and general usability is slow anyways, so I will not mark as fixed yet. Can someone else confirm?

I confirm that the scrolling is fast now, also on old hardware. There are other performance problems in software centre, but the scrolling problem is solved.

This one is NOT fixed, software-center in 10.10 performance makes it unusable in fairly modern hardware.
