network-manager fails to start a dsl conection

Binary package hint: network-manager

network-manager fails to start a dsl conection as seen in "syslog_networkmanager.txt". But when using pon to start a pppoeconf configured conection, everything goes fine, as seen in "syslog_pon_dsl-provider.txt".
