Still trying to install firebird classic 2.1 on Kubuntu 9.04 using KPackageKit. Clean install of Kunbun following by install glibc and libstdc.so.5, firebird common and then classic (common was a mistake because I pressed the wrong button). However it should not have mattered.

The bug seems to be still present in latest fb package, but if you don't use 9.04 anymore you might want to consider closing this bug and subscribing to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firebird2.1/+bug/466163

Hi Flávio,

I've moved to 9.10 and everything is now fine, although the start-process
still hangs, but a smooth ctrl-c sorts that out!
