only loads correct screen resolution half the time

Bug Description

Sometimes when I boot up, Ubuntu loads the correct screen resolution (1280 x 900)
but about half the time, it loads 1024x768 instead
It appears to be totally random when it loads the right screen resolution or not.

This happened every once in a while, but very rarely in 9.04
It happens much more frequently now that I have upgraded to the 9.10 beta
