Can you get a crash log by installing kdenetwork-dbg and running/crashing kopete through gdb as described at https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Backtrace please? Thanks in advance.

Yep, if it happens again and I can work out how to reproduce it
(semi-)reliably I will do that and add the steps to crash it.
