Bug Description

OS: Kubuntu 9.10 beta, updated to latest packages (and partially ruined as a result).

If you're going to report bug generated by crash reporter, you could get stuck when you're figured out bug is a duplicate.
Problem is that popup pictured on screen shot can't be clicked in Konqueror browser (which is started by error reporting, regardless of Firefox installed).

Screen shot attached, it shows problematic scenario. Problem is that you can't select any of options - nothing happens when you clicking "ok" (green checkmark) button. So under Kubuntu you can't mark that bug affects you or subscribe to it using direct ways.

Confirming.
Bugreporting started by apport, clicking "Yes, this is the bug I'm trying to report", "I am affected by this bug" popup appears, checkboxes are selectable, but OK button is not clickable. Cancel button however *is* clickable.

Still not working in Kubuntu 10.04 beta1. Since Konqueror is the default browser there this is quite problematic for effective bug reporting.

Shouldn't this also be filed under konqueror, since it's quite possibly a bug in Konqueror instead of Launchpad?

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!

From user's standpoint that's exactly Kubuntu's problem, not KDE's own. Look, Canonical provides both OS and services (like bug tracking system). Hence user could (and would) expect that supplied software could work properly with offered services and that at least interaction of offered software and services have been anyhow tested and works properly.

So as for me, this bug looks like "poor system integration" or "bad defaults" or so. On distro level, there is nothing prevents for example supplying Firefox and using it instead, etc if it works better with your services. As for me, let's say, Konqueror is not really usable as day-to-day browser anyway. So I can see there is much more ways to fix this issue at distro level than just report problem to KDE. So I'm not really understood why this bug marked as "invalid" or how triaging happens or how you're going to track this issue down and make sure users are not affected by it, etc. However if you're really sure that this is bug in Konqueror I probably should re-submit it to KDE as well anyway.

Don't worry. All bugs against KDE related packages are marked invalid as part of Project Timelord ( http://www.kubuntu.org/news/timelord )

That said, I wouldn't know if it really is a bug in Konqueror. Can we check the (Javascript?) code behind that little button?

Hi all,

This is rated as a high priority bug in Launchpad. That means it will probably be investigated soon and I would expect a workaround for konqueror will be put in place, and an upstream bug filed as appropriate.

Obviously the javascript code here is already delivered to your browser, so you can look at it. If you can find an error or warning in konqueror's error console that would help move this bug along. If you feel this bug is important and blocking your use of Ubuntu, click the "affects me too" link above.

I've verified this bug still exists in Konqueror (4.6.2) on Natty. There does not appear to be an easy way to get a JavaScript console in Konqueror so I cannot see if any error messages are being generated.

The pop-up does appear but without borders and the accept button does not work.

This was caused by the steal focus code in the choice source picker. My fix for that issue also fixed this bug.
