GStreamer elements are unable to be linked for some reason. How can I reproduce this issue?

I got this one to reproduce by inserting DVD and hitting 'Add to queue'. Appears to be the same error regardless of what format I attempt to transcode to. I have multiverse and suitable plugins installed.

I got it transcoding and MKV to ogv
But it was after done this same thing with another file, successfully transcoded.

Happened on AVI > DVD (PAL) for me. Other conversions worked fine previously.

Hi,
I used my program lately and it work pretty well frome mpeg to avi. I
don'tknow if it is new Ubuntu or one of the update but that was the last
thing I was doing with my mac.

I don't know this corectly, because it's some time ago. I think it's
because of my PC. It's a Fujitsu Siemens C1110 and it's very old. The
finished and new linux distrubition 10.4 don't work, too. I think it's
because the PC is to old.
