Binary package hint: cheese
cheese not working with Microsoft VX-1000 webcam; application autoconfigures to access USB camera (/dev/video0) but image displayed consists of green with multicoloured pixel strip at top. Worked under Jaunty with 2.6.30 kernel (nightly build)

Strange: looked at this report and it says cheese wasn't installed (despite having run it to confirm bug). Synaptic reported cheese was not installed but cheese-hildon was installed. Installed cheese (auto uninstalls cheese-hildon), problem persists.
