Hello Chris,

Here it is. It crashes the open office version
3.1 on my ASUS 1008HA with the Remix 9.10 Beta.
But opens fine on my desktop PC with 9.04 and OpenOffice 3.0

Good luck

This appears to be a bug in ooo-build as I could not reproduce the crash in official 3.1.0 or dev300m49 (OOo 3.2)

Changed in openoffice.org (Ubuntu):
status: Incomplete → Triaged
summary: - OpenOffice 3.1 spreadsheet crashes when opening XLS spreadsheet which
- opens fine in OpenOffice 3.0
+ [ooo-build] OOo 3.1 spreadsheet crashes when opening XLS spreadsheet
+ which opens fine in OOo 3.0

Thanks Chris,

ooo build of What?? Ubuntu or OpenOffice 3.1.0?

Just downloaded OpenOfice 3.1.1 for Windows (XP)
(on the same ASUS 1008HA) and was able to open
same spreadsheet in this Widnoiws version under Windows XP

Will try to find newer Linux version of OpenOffice and try.

Best Regards,

Hello Chris,

Just downloaded and installed latest version 3.1.1 of OpenOffice for
Linux and it still crashes when trying to open these spreadsheets. See
attachments of pop up windows.

Leaves the Ubuntu 9.10 beta netbook remix version as the culprit??

Best Regards,

ooo-build is the set of patches from Go-OO that we use in Ubuntu. When I tested it worked fine for me with the official http://openoffice.org/ packages but did not work properly with the Ubuntu version so that is why I thought it was related to ooo-build.

Topolino, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.
