Eclipse plugins not enabled after ubuntu packages (eclipse-pydev, eclipse-cdt) installed

Despite installing Eclipse and eclipse-pydev, the Pydev plugin is not available in Eclipse.

This seems to be a more general problem. The eclipse-cdt plugin package also does not enable C/C++ projects in Eclipse under karmic.

Both packages (eclipse-pydev and eclipse-cdt) needs an update. We will try to update eclipse-cdt, but we may have not enough time (help is highly welcome). We removed eclipse-pydev due to this reason (and hope that we can reintroduce it in Ubuntu 10.04).

With eclipse 3.5.1-0ubuntu5 you will be able to install these plugins as user (will be stored in ~/.eclipse).

eclipse-cdt 6.0.2-1 made it into Ubuntu 11.04 (natty).
