Bug Description

Binary package hint: modemmanager

When I plug in my Huawei E620, it seems that modemmanager has trouble with removing the fake CD-ROM and switching it to modemmode:

This loops on and on ad infinitum.

This is reflected on endless loops in modemmanager:

** Message: (ttyUSB2) opening serial device...
** (modem-manager:24757): DEBUG: (Huawei): (ttyUSB0) deferring support check
** (modem-manager:24757): DEBUG: (Huawei): (ttyUSB1) deferring support check
** Message: (ttyUSB2) opening serial device...

During this, /dev/sr1 keeps existing, and GNOME fails to automount it. I never get a /dev/ttyUSB*.

Needless to say that "mm-test.py" just says "no modems found"

@bugabundo: you had some idea about the regression window, right? what timeframe was that again?

The "option: " error from above feels like a kernel bug. Can you check if using older kernel helps?

according to irclogs (http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2009/10/06/%23ubuntu-mozillateam.html)
it was on the 06/10/2009
but udev changelog https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/udev/+changelog
only shows changes on 23/09/2009
