My suspend is working, but I've never uncommented that line from /etc/default/acpi-support. Apparently g-p-m doesn't care about that line.

Ulrich: can you please confirm that the 'ZV6000' is in CAPITAL letters an not lower-case? (All the other Pavilion models we have white-listed have lower-case letters, eg: 'zv6000').

(Minor bug: it didn't suspend or hibernate from AC power until I'd done both while on battery power. That may be bug <a href="https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/32143">32143</a>. <a href="https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/hal/+bug/51225">51225</a> may be a dupe.)

Sorry for hijacking this bug, but it appears there is no other way to report a bug in acpi-support via the ubuntu methods.

acpi-support should not depend on laptop-specific packages. They should be recommended instead. Smartdimmer and Toshset do not apply to me and are mutually exclusive.

Paul Sladen (sladen) wrote : Rolf: Please open a new bug report for laptop-specific issues

Hello Rolf, thank you for your reported. As you've noted, this isn't the correct bug report and will only serve to confuse this one, which makes the bug-tracking process much harder. Please could you open a new, dedicated bug on this issue by going to:

  https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+filebug

and including an appropriate title, such as the "acpi-support should not depend on laptop-specific packages" you've included above. Many thanks, Paul.

Suspend works perfectly with the "force" option, no tweaking required, requesting white-list

This bug was fixed in the package acpi-support - 0.120

---------------
acpi-support (0.120) jaunty; urgency=low

  [ Alexander Solodukhin ]
  * Correct suspend.d/55-down-interfaces.sh to point to
    /var/run/network/ifstate rather than /etc/network/run/ifstate.
    LP: #295544.

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * Drop lib/*.config: I committed all sleep quirks to hal-info now
    (upstream, and in Jaunty). The ACPI_SLEEP whitelisting, as well as
    acpi-support's suspend/resume handling itself is not used by
    default any more, and almost all laptops support suspend/resume
    nowadays, so keeping a whitelist is the wrong approach.
    LP: #37303, #44781.
  * lib/device-funcs: Drop reading of .config files.
  * Drop vbesave, resume.d/17-video-restore.sh, suspend.d/
    80-video-pci-state.sh, suspend.d/80-video-vesa-state.sh:
    pm-utils and hal-info handle VBE/PCI status quirks.

  [ Scott James Remnant ]
  * suspend.d/88-time.sh, resume.d/50-time.sh: Remove since the kernel
    keeps the system clock in sync with the hardware clock over a
    suspend/resume cycle. LP: #312486, #218120, #158358, #157936.
  * debian/preinst: Remove on upgrade.
  * Remove the toshiba_acpi.modprobe file; this sets a kernel option that's
    been the default for ages.
