Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Do you get the same with Lucid or Maverick? Thanks in advance.

It isn't a problem anymore, I installed several updates and afterwards the connection worked. I don't know if this problem exists with Lucid and Maverick because I haven't installed any of them yet. Thank you for taking my problem seriously!2.857

Hi, I'm still experiencing such an issue. On an Ubuntu 10.04 up to date.

How can I provide you any sort of debug logs? The client keeps asking if it has to try to reconnect or I want to change the configuration...

Happened today on my two boxes:
1: Ubuntu 10.4.1 and pidgin 2.7.3 from getdeb
2: Ubuntu 8.04.4 and pidgin 2.5.2 from packages

NO USER INTERACTION WAS MADE!!!

Yesterday it worked without any problems and today the server was changed!
Annoying bug.. - if somebody wants to track this don't hesitate to ask for more information.

I had the same problem today. I fixed it with a simple workaround. You just have to check the box "use clientLogin" in the advanced tab of your account settings.

Please could anybody confirm is this behaviour is still occurring in latest release of pidgin included in Ubuntu Maverick? Thanks.
