package update-manager 1:0.87.31 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: SystemError in cache.commit(): installArchives() failed

update manager tells Me I have @ 503 updates available, it seems to go through downloading them all, crashed once now if I try to rerun, it thinks for a bit, checks cache and then crashes. not sure how to proceed.

Thanks for your bugreport.

It looks like the upgrade you performed went ok, so the hardy version of u-m is now having problems?
Can you please run udpate-manager manually in a termianl and let me know what that prints?

sure, I can tell you verbatim, when I get home, but basically I get an error
that it cant authenticate on of the download sites on My list and it closes,
I tried to add that site based on some commands I found in a forum but it
reports that there is no token to update. I also tried the command u
requested, but it still pulls up the pkg manager or else it reports a
similar error that it cant run the updates, and then it will just quit out.
Or it tells Me that it cant upgrade from 9.10 to 9.04 which seems a little
backwards. is there any way, short of a fresh install to back out or back
down to 9.04?

then it opens the GUI update manager says I can install 28 updates but then
the forefront window says not all updates can be installed, to run partial
upgrade, which I do..
Can Not Upgrade.. An upgrade from 'karmic' to 'hardy' is not supported with
this tool.
