Bug Description
Binary package hint: acpi-support
The nohdparm boot option is useful for many hard drives that have trouble with hdparm, resulting in systematic or more random hangs and lock-ups (example bug 397096). The option is probed for by udev, but a couple of other packages do also call hdparm: pm-utils (patch in bug #437796), acpi-support.

We can and should fix this by dropping the /etc/acpi/ start.d/ 90-hdparm script entirely - the fix for which I've committed to bzr and will include in the next upload.
