Bug Description

Binary package hint: vmware-player

When I try to install VMware-Player-2.5.3-185404.x86_6 (or any other 2.5 release) on Karmic, I end up with the installer hanging indefinitely on the 'Configuring VMWare' screen.

System details:

Linux squires 2.6.31-11-generic #38-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 2 11:06:40 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Full update has just been run

Using VMware-Player-2.5.3-185404.x86_64.bundle, recently downloaded from vmware.com

Here is the output of /var/log/vmware-installer:

I have the same issue:

Linux paguro 2.6.31-14-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 13 16:47:28 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
running on AMD Phenom(tm) 8650 Triple-Core Processor

package: VMware-Player-2.5.3-185404.x86_64.bundle from official VMware website.

I attach the ps uaxww output. I tried waiting for some minutes, but it looks stuck there, like it can't compile the modules.

Let's hope VMware fix the bundle on next release...
